Sue Malleson was born into a family already ensconced in the folk revival. As one third of girl harmony group 'The Cedarfolk' in the mid sixties, Sue became big in North Bedfordshire. Fame however was short-lived and for much of the seventies, eighties and nineties Sue depressed countless audiences by singing solo unaccompanied songs of unrequited love - usually in a minor key. Having mastered claw-hammer and three chords - and with the chord of B minor looming - Sue cast the guitar aside to take up a pair of soup spoons. It was as this point that she discovered her tyrannical tendencies as an MC and caller. Sue’s been instructing dancers at social events for the past 35 years at barn dances and at Folk Camps, where she regularly heads a team of staff for a week's worth of folk-related activities. She currently sings with the Living Archive Band from Milton Keynes and has now been persuaded - much against her better judgement - to bring order to the dance floor at Barrett’s Barn Dance Bad Boys’ gigs. |
